ObamaCare Recap
Well, we'd all like to say we're surprised with the new and bipartisan approach President Obama took tonight in his health care address - but that's just not what happened.
Straight from the horse's mouth:
"That's why under my plan, individuals will be required to carry basic health insurance"
"Likewise, businesses will be required to either offer their workers health care, or chip in to help cover the cost of their workers"
So what we learned from tonight is that the President is sticking by the public (government-run) option, he supports mandates on individuals to buy insurance and mandates on business to provide insurance to their employees - even if doing so requires them to lay off some employees in order to pay for the insurance of others, his plan will cost $900 billion but it somehow miraculously won't increase the deficit one dollar, and that we should all support his reforms because Senator Ted Kennedy would.
One entertaining moment of the speech - Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina yelled out 'YOU LIE' when President Obama tried to defect rumors that his health plan would cause the government to pay for insurance for illegal immigrants. Jury's still out on this one since amendments to prohibit the use of funds for illegals failed in committee mark ups for H.R. 3200 - the current House Democrats proposal.
Guess only time will tell if he really has the votes in the House to support his grand ideas
